The Biglick Boptet has been one of the area’s much sought after jazz trios. Ranging from smooth straight-ahead standards for quiet background events, to burning funky reinterpretations of jazz favorites. They always play what is right for the mood, the crowd, and the event. Never too loud.

Bruce Fickley - guitar
One of the area’s leading bebop and straight-ahead jazz guitarists. He brings an innovative, yet sophisticated sound to the group. It’s easy to listen to for musicians and non-musicians alike.

Kelly Gravely drums- percussion
Kelly has toured with Mazarati 2 (a band formed by Prince). Kelly has also played extensively with Victor Wooten (bassist for Bela Fleck & the Flecktones). He recorded three songs on the Yin Yang album, and was on the Bass Day ’98 Video with Victor. Kelly and Jeff played back up for Rodney Jones (guitarist for James Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, Rosie O’Donnell Show, and many more). He toured with Evelyn Champayne King. He has been mentioned in Modern Drummer magazine and Jazz Times Magazine. Kelly taught drums to J.D. Blair (drummer for Shania Twain) at Norfolk State College.

Jeff Hofmann - upright and electric bass
Jeff has been playing with the Boptet for eight years and the group keeps getting tighter each year. He played along with Kelly Gravely for Rodney Jones, as his back-up band when he came through Roanoke. His playing adds a tight rythmic connection between the the drummer and the guitarist.
